COVID-19: Family Cremates Wrong Man Due To Thane Hospital’s Negligence

Hospital authorities hand a dead body of a patient to the wrong family. Later says that it was not their mistake.

Thousands of people are getting infected due to Coronavirus in India. The states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Delhi are the worst affected areas. Maharashtra is leading with the highest number of Coronavirus cases, and the negligence at the COVID-19 hospitals still exists. Patients often complain about improper facilities and treatment that they receive at the hospitals. One such incident came into limelight when a hospital in Thane near Mumbai gave a dead body of a Coronavirus patient to some other family.

When the family member complained about the matter, the hospital authorities claimed that the patient’s family member should have checked the body before receiving it. Later the hospital authorities also stated that this error must have taken place due to confusion in the documentation process. The authorities even asked the family members of the deceased to write a letter accepting their mistake. An investigation is under process regarding this matter.
