India has become the second country in the world after the United States (US) to record five million COVID-19 cases, with the last million coming in a world-record time of 11 days. The country recorded 90,123 fresh cases, while deaths rose by 1,290 in 24 hours. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), on Thursday (September 17), India’s COVID-19 cases tally crossed the 51 lakh-mark with a spike of 97,894 cases and 1,132 deaths in the last 24 hours.
