Colombian Farmer Adopts Kitten, Turns Out To Be Wild Cat
Farmer who spotted cub on highway thought she was an abandoned kitten.
A Colombian farmer was shocked by his own good deed when he discovered that a kitten he had adopted was actually a cougar cub. The wild cat has since been rescued. He had found the baby cougar on the edge of the highway and picked her up with the intention of adopting her. Upon bringing her home, it took him several days to realize that it is in fact not a kitten but a wild cat. He then decided to call a rescue body named Cartolima.
Elber Guzman, the farmer from Colombia who discovered the kitten, said, “I was riding my motorcycle when I spotted her on the edge of the highway. I thought she was a kitten and I picked her up to help her. I thought someone had abandoned her and I picked her up to help her.” The cougar, also known as puma, is native to the Americas and is most closely related to smaller felines, including the domestic cat. It’s a territorial animal that is now on the endangered list.
