The Chief Minister of the state also urged pilgrims not to throng the Ganga river for holy baths in light of the ongoing Coronavirus crisis. Every year on Somvati Amavasya, thousands of pilgrims arrive at the river to bathe in it. “I request you humbly, with my hands joined, to keep mother Ganga in our remembrance and take holy baths in our own homes. We hope you follow this and help the Uttarakhand government in these difficult times being faced due to the pandemic,” he said.
