China Issues Sanctions Against US Lawmakers Including Marco Rubio And Ted Cruz
The move comes as retaliation in light of Washington’s sanctions against top Chinese officials.

Tensions between the US and China continue to boil over, even as the latter has issued sanctions against a few American lawmakers, which includes Republican Senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. Also included in the list are Sam Brownback, a US Ambassador for religious freedom, and Representative Chris Smith. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Hua Chunying, made this announcement during a daily briefing in Beijing.
She revealed that the sanctions will come into effect immediately and the people on the list will be barred from entering China. This move, of course, comes as a retaliation measure in light of Washington’s issuing of sanctions against a top member of China’s ruling Communist Party and three other officials over alleged human rights abuses on the Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang. Beijing has in the past also vowed to retaliate against the US for meddling in its internal affairs regarding Hong Kong and Taiwan.
