Children Repair Road In Odisha’s Bhadrak, Officials Promise To Probe The Matter

Recently, a video of children in Odisha ‘fixing’ a road has surfaced on the internet, and the netizens are shocked. This video is from the Bhadrak district of Odisha that shows as many as five children picking up stones from one side of the road, and placing them on the other side in a bid to ‘repair’ it. The children reportedly hail from Baghmara village in Bhadrak. The place is surrounded by unmetalled roads with a few patches in between, and it seems like the children were trying to fix those patches by filling them up with stones.

While addressing the issue in media, the block development officer of Bhadrak, MK Behera, reportedly said that they will thoroughly look into the matter. They will inspect the circumstances under which the kids were repairing the road. If the issue is verified and something is found, then they will take appropriate action against the responsible officials who have shown negligence. The actions will be executed on a ‘priority basis’, said the official.

As per reports, the block development officer has instructed an assistant executive engineer to physically examine the site where the children were found repairing the road. They will check the road as well as discuss with the locals for getting their feedback about the situation.

MK Behera also said that it is not a very common occurrence to spot children repairing roads in Odisha. He added, “we have taken it very seriously and definitely we will try to take steps to immediately repair the road..”
