Chhattisgarh Set To Transfer Rs 1,737.50 Crore To Farmers

Tendu leaf and cow dung collectors will also benefit from the amount.

The Chhattisgarh Government led by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is all set to transfer the sum of Rs 1,737 crore into the accounts of farmers as well as collectors of tendu leaf and cow dung. The event, which coincides with former Indian Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary, will be attended by his wife Sonia Gandhi and son Rahul Gandhi. The event will mark the transfer of the second instalment of the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyaya Yojana.

In fact, of the Rs 1,737 crore, Rs 1,500 crore have been earmarked for the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyaya Yojana itself. This amount will be transferred into the accounts of 19 lakh farmers. Another major transfer will take place under the state government’s Gaudhan Nyay Yojana under which the state pays cow dung sellers at the rate of Rs 2 per kg. And then there’s the amount of Rs 232.81 crore that will be transferred into the bank accounts of tendu leaf collectors as a bonus for their collection in year 2018.
