Prabhas is an actor who is more recognized by his character Amarendra Baahubali. Fondly called the “rebel” star by his fans, the actor has garnered acclaim and international fan following through his work.
Prabhas is a super shy and reserved person by nature. He’s known to stay low and talk limitedly. Whenever people asked him if he wanted to be an actor in his childhood, he’d reply negatively. His mother, too, supported him as she didn’t want him to go through the cut-throat competition in the industry among the actors.
He was interested in getting into the business world or agriculture. His father and uncle believed that movies could work for him, and they tried to convince him. He would see his cousins meeting people and getting pictures clicked while he took his time deciding whether he wanted to pursue acting. When he was 18 or 19, he finally told his father that he wished to be an actor. He was shocked.
But, if his co-stars are to be believed, then Prabhas takes some time to open up with new people. Once he gets comfortable, he’s the most talkative person in the room and is fun to be around. They also say that his company is not awkward due to his shyness. Instead, he’s welcoming.
Prabhas is a big-time foodie. His co-stars keep praising him for spoiling them with delicious food. But he’s particular about his food as well. He has to have 20-30 different dishes on the table for him to start eating. Once, his brother had got everything ready on the table in his farmhouse when he was gone for football practice.
At 02:00 AM, he came back, looked at 30 different cuisines on the table, and made a fuss about not finding the chutney. He maintained that he wouldn’t start eating until he got his chutney. So, at 02:00 AM, his brother went home, made his wife cook chutney, and brought it to him at 03:00, and then only he ate.
Prabhas fondly calls everyone “darling” on the sets. He is not aware of how he caught on the word. He loved Puri so much that he addressed him as darling during the making of the film Bujjigadu. Puri liked how he said it, so used it in the film, and later made a film called Darling. Puri and Rajamouli also addressed him as darling in public on various occasions like audio launches and became his permanent nickname.
Prabhas is known to be extremely lazy off-screen. He’s told his co-stars on sets of Rajamouli that if they want comfort, they should stay with him, else hard work is waiting with Rajamouli. His co-actors also confirm this by saying that he gathers all his energy for a shot, and the moment the shot is over, he’s back to his lazy self.
Prabhas acting career has had a lineup of such diverse and dynamic films that may make many actors envy him. Post his first hit movie Varsham, Prabhas has managed to attract work that explores his acting skills, and he can present people with different stories each time. Films like Darling, Mr. Perfect, and Baahubali gave him the variety he and his audience needed now and then.
He's a phenomenal actor and gains critical acclaim for all his performances, but he remains harsh with himself. Except for his role as Baahubali, he has never been satisfied with his performances and always remains feeling like he could’ve done better.
Prabhas always wanted to be a part of a big and memorable film. He got that opportunity in Baahubali. He took the risk and dedicated his entire four-year time to the movie. He gained weight and trained with Mr.World. He had producers chasing him because he had a streak of hit movies, but he didn’t sign any film during his Baahubali period. He even rejected endorsements worth 18 crores to stay dedicated and focused on the film. There was a time when he was stressed about money.
But it was all worth it when the movie made a 1000 crore mark on the global box office. He got international fame, and he became the first south Indian actor to have a wax statue at Madame Tussauds in London.
Prabhas is actively engaged in providing help wherever needed. He’s aware of his surroundings and, therefore, came forward to adopt a 1650 acre reserve forest for two crores. Prabhas took this initiative under the Green India challenge. The Kazipally reserve forest is known for its medicinal plants.
During the covid-19 crisis, Prabhas donated 3cr. to PM relief funds and 50 lakh each to the CM relief funds of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana. He also donated 50 Lakh to help the daily wage earners in the Telugu industry.
Prabhas is an actor with immense talent and a legacy of work in the industry. Even with his larger-than-life fame, the actor remains humble and down-to-earth. Staying close to his school friends, he stays close to reality and doesn’t let stardom get to his head. With his work inside and outside the industry, the actor has just been winning hearts
