Cannes 2021, Day 1: Bella Hadid, Marion Cotillard Turn Up The Glamour Quotient

After being delayed due to the pandemic, the 74th Cannes Film Festival has finally begun. While this prestigious fest will be a treasure trove for film wizards, it also holds a special treat for fashionistas. Saying so, the first day at the Cannes, made heads turn with glamour aplenty. With their top-notch attires, style icons like Bella Hadid, Marion Cotillard, and few others signed a dazzling affair on the red carpet. Their splendid and upgraded looks seemed to be registered for the new fashion game. 

Leading the show of glamour on the red carpet was supermodel Bella Hadid. She opted for a white monochrome gown and her smokey look was the highlight of Day 1. Matching her look with diamond earrings, Bella’s style statement became the show-stealer at the Cannes. While many other divas went overboard with their rich looks, Marion Cotillard’s shimmery dress stood out. Her elegant look became the talk for the fashionistas.

Cotillard arrived at Cannes for the premiere of her film Anneth. Following her, Jessica Chastain Candice Swanepoel, and Helen Mirren graced the red carpet. While the glamour at the film festival became a major highlight, the opening day also honoured some leading artists. Actress Jodie Foster received the  Honorary Palme d’Or for her impressive film career. She was honoured by master filmmaker Pedro Almodovar.

Furthermore, Jodie Foster declared the festival’s opening along with directors Almodovar, Spike Lee, and Bong Joon-Ho. Talking about this year’s film competition, 24 movies have been shortlisted for the ‘Palme d’Or’.

The Indian entrants at Cannes 2021 include filmmaker Rahul Jain. His documentary ‘Invisible Demons’ based on climate change will be premiered under Cinema for Climate Section. On the other hand, Payal Kapadia’s ‘A Night of Knowing Nothing’ has also been shortlisted.
