Bus Stuck Under Waterlogged Bridge in Gujarat Pulled To Safety
Heavy rains in several parts of the country led to severe waterlogging, with rescue operations pressed into service
Heavy rains in Gujarat, Delhi and Haryana led to severe waterlogging in various parts of the states. In the Gondal district of Rajkot, Gujarat, a state transport bus was stuck in a flooded underpass, forcing its commuters to make their own way to safety.
Passengers could be seen wading through neck-deep water. Some of the travelers even climbed the bus roof to safeguard themselves. An excavator truck was brought to the location to pull out the bus from under the bridge. With a few united attempts, the locals finally rescued the bus with the help of a heavy rope tied to the truck.
Meanwhile, in Banaskantha in Gujarat, a car was stranded on a rain-swamped bridge through the night. The driver and his vehicle were finally rescued by passers-by in the morning.
In Bihar’s Samastipur, the wrath of the Kosi river has led to many homes being reduced to debris. In the villages in the district, multiple houses, schools and even water tanks are either damaged or inaccessible. Likewise, Malkangiri in Orissa has also witnessed huge destruction due to the incessant rains.
The state of Uttarakhand continues to remain on high-alert due to unprecedented showers. Dangerous landslides and disappearing roads, washed away by the rains have been reported from areas like Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh.
