BJP Sarpanch Shot Dead By Terrorists In Quazigund, Kashmir

In the past 72 hours, this is the second attack on a Sarpanch in Kulgam, Kashmir.

Sajjad Ahmad, a Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) sarpanch from Vessu village in Quazigund block of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, was shot dead by militants near his residence. Ahmad was immediately rushed to a hospital in Anantnag district, where the authorities declared him dead upon arrival. In the past three days, this is the second attack on a Sarpanch in Kashmir. Previously, terrorists had attacked another BJP Sarpanch, Arif Ahmad in the same district. He somehow managed to escape, however was severely injured in this attack.

The repetitive attacks on sarpanches has created a scary and troublesome atmosphere in Kashmir. Police forces are trying their best to investigate the cases and trace the terrorists behind these attacks. So far, there have been no leads but the police department is determined about finding the main culprits behind these gruesome attacks, as soon as possible.
