In 2011, Nayanthara featured in the devotional film Sri Rama Rajyam alongside Nandamuri Balakrishna. This movie not only helped her connect with the Telugu masses but she also bagged the prestigious Nandi Award for the Best Actress for her impressive performance. Interestingly, around the same time, Nayanthara adopted Hinduism officially.

In 2017, Nayanthara took the genre of thriller more seriously and came out with Dora. The film is about a father-daughter duo who purchase a vintage car.
