Basavaraj S Bommai Elected As The 23rd Chief Minister Of Karnataka, Takes Oath On July 28

After BS Yediyurappa 2 year long stint as the Karnataka CM, Basavaraj S Bommai now gets unanmously appointed as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka.

For a while, there has been speculation about BS Yediyurappa continuing as the CM of Karnataka. Putting an end to all the speculations, Yediyurappa resigned on Monday, i.e. July 26. Following this, Former Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj S Bommai was appointed as the Cheif Minister of Karnataka in a BJP legislative party meeting on Tuesday i.e. July 27. The newly chose Karnataka CM takes his oath on July 28 at 11:00 am.

Appointing Bommai as the new Karnataka CM was a unanimous decision by the party members. This decision was announced by the Central observer and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. After being announced as the new CM of the state, Bommai said, “It is a big responsibility in the given situation. I will strive to work for the welfare of the poor. It will be pro-people and pro-poor people governance.”

Many politicians extended their support and congratulated the newly appointed CM. One of the first people to wish him was, the former CM of Karnataka, BS Yediyurappa. He congratulated Bommai and expressed his confidence in the leader.

Some other people who tweeted in support of Bommai were, National General Secretary of BJP, B L Santhosh, who called the CM a “seasoned politician” and and said that he will take the state to “new heights in development”. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also wished Bommai luck for his upcoming tenure while recalling the time they worked together on the GST Council.
