On Saturday, September 12, a group of Shiv Sena members allegedly beat up ex-Navy Officer Madan Sharma for sharing a cartoon about Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. In this incident, Sharma’s eye was severely injured. His picture went viral on social media, and in no time, the Shiv Sena faced a backlash from the people and political leaders. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut justified this attack on the ex-Navy officer by saying that the incident has happened by mistake and the Shiv Sainiks should have kept their calm and handled the situation peacefully. He also said that the entire matter should have been settled by following proper law and order, and Shiv Sena has now taken necessary actions against the accused.

Further, Raut even said that Shiv Sena was provoked to take such actions. There was no need to share such a cartoon of CM Uddhav Thackeray. He also slammed the BJP government for politicising the issue.
