Atmanirbhar Bharat Mission: DRDO Successfully Test Fires Brahmos Cruise Missile
Brahmos missile is one of the prime precision-strike missiles used by all three forces, the Army, Navy and the Air Force.
India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Wednesday, September 30 successfully test-fired BrahMos supersonic cruise missile with several indigenous features like booster and air frame sector, along with other sub-systems that were made in the country. The supersonic missile was successfully tested for designated range from a test range at Balasore in Odisha. The development of missile is a major step towards achieving “Atmanirbhar Bharat” pledge. Sources also claim that this highly equipped missile is one of the prime precision-strike missiles used by all three forces, the Army, Navy and the Air Force.
According to the news reports, the BrahMos Land-Attack Cruise Missile (LACM) cruised at a top speed of Mach 2.8 and weighs around 2.5 tonnes. It has a strike range of approximately 300 km. BrahMos has been deployed in Ladakh and in the Eastern Sector in Arunachal Pradesh in order to tackle any threats in the ongoing standoff with China.
