The pandemic caused by the coronavirus does not seem to be ending in India. With another huge wave and a massive rise in the cases hitting the nation, various states and cities are now facing the implications of curfew timings and other restrictions. Recently, Arvind Kejriwal announced a weekend curfew in Delhi and gave a detailed explanation of its specifics.

Arvind Kejriwal, who is the current Chief Minister of Delhi, recently declared a weekend curfew in the nation’s capital territory. This was evidently done to tackle the latest wave of COVID-19 that has hit India. The weekend curfew is set to commence from 10 pm on Friday, April 16 and will last till 6 am on Monday, April 19, 2021. The soon upcoming curfew will mean that facilities such as gyms, auditoriums, spas, and shopping malls in Delhi will remain shut.

On the other hand, cinema halls and movie theatres have the permit to run at a 30 per cent capacity. Seating facilities at restaurants, pubs, bars and all other eateries to remain shut while the home delivery of food is allowed. Arvind Kejriwal stated how it is the season for Indian weddings, with many couples already having their wedding dates fixed in advance. The CM declared that they will be provided with curfew passes to avoid causing their upcoming nuptials any trouble and allow the needful movements in the city.

The CM of Delhi announced the weekend curfew from Friday night to Monday morning recently to battle the COVID-19 surge. He stated how weekdays are when people head out to work, which is a very essential part of everyone’s livelihood. However, he added that weekends are usually when people head out for leisurely and recreational purposes, which can and need to be avoided at the moment due to the ever-spreading coronavirus infection in the country.
