Apple‘s new feature has a support document outlining the procedure, which requires the users to go to privacy.apple.com, log in, and go through the ‘transfer a copy of your data’ process . The feature will not remove anything from the iCloud photo library which means that the user will have to select and manually delete whatever he does not require in his library.
There are some restrictions also to the feature. Things like shared albums, smart albums, photo stream content, live photos, some metadata, and media which are not a part of the photo library will not be transferred by this process. It has not been specified if Live photos will be a part of the ride. The transfer time has been clarified by Apple and it said that the photos might take three to seven days to get transferred from iOS to Google Photos.
The feature has been made available in very few countries till now, which includes, Australia, Canada, the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
