Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma and Indian cricketer Virat Kohli had previously announced the details of a fundraiser which they started, in order to help the people in need amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The couple recently released a fresh video where they informed their fans that they have exceeded their target amount and they will now send this money to the COVID care organization which has been helping people with various COVID-19 resources. The couple has raised close to 11 crores and all of it will be used to help the needy amidst the COVID-19 second wave. Actor Priyanka Chopra had also previously started a similar fundraiser in order to help the country in providing COVID-19 patients with all the necessary facilities.

The couple set a target of 7 crores which they exceeded within just a few days. According to the video attached above, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s fundraiser has raised close to 11 crores, all of which will be sent to ACT Grants, who have been working tirelessly to reduce COVID-related casualties. The celebrity couple also put up a thank you video where they wholeheartedly expressed their gratitude towards the people who contributed to the funds. They also made it clear that it would not have been possible without their fans and followers.

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli had also a lot of backlash for their fundraiser. A few people had been quite unhappy with their way of helping people as they believe it is not fair to ask for money from tax-payers, especially when the fundraiser is being run by the rich and the privileged.
