Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh skipped summons by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday for the second time.

He wrote a letter to the agency expressing his inability to appear before it in person due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In the letter Deshmukh wrote he is about 72 years old and suffering from various comorbidities, hence it may not be prudent to appear in person.

He also said the ED summons “do not clarify” the purpose of his personal appearance.

Deshmukh has asked the ED to record his statements through any audio or visual medium of their choice.

He further added that he would furnish all information and documents sought by the ED after the agency gives him a copy of the Enforcement Case Information Report filed in the case.
