Andy Garcia to be part of ‘The Expendables’ fourth installment

Andy Garcia has joined the mega-muscled cast of the latest episode of Lionsgate and Millennium Media’s action franchise The Expendables.

Jason Statham leads a double-barreled cast that includes Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Sylvester Stallone, all of whom are slated to reprise their roles from the previous three films. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, and Tony Jaa are also in the arena.

Scott Waugh of Need for Speed has been cast as the director of the fourth installment of the franchise, with filming planned to begin in October. The script was written by Spenser Cohen, with Max Adams and John Joseph Connolly revising it. The plot will once again revolve around a crew of veteran mercenaries, but details are being kept under wraps. Garcia will portray a CIA agent tasked with accompanying the Expendables on their risky mission. Statham, Kevin King Templeton, and Millennium’s Les Weldon, Yariv Lerner, Jeffrey Greenstein, and Jonathan Yunger are producing the latest in the franchise.

Garcia is just off the set of a modern-day adaptation of Father of the Bride, in which he portrays the patriarch. He is also a producer on the Warner Bros. film. He’s working on a number of projects, including the Oscar Isaac-starring indie Big Gold Brick, Thor Freudenthal’s teen drama Words on Bathroom Wall, and the action film Redemption Day.

The Expendables is an American action thriller franchise that includes a film series scripted by Sylvester Stallone and based on characters created by David Callaham, as well as many others. The Expendables, a group of elite mercenaries who take on various thrilling missions.

The films have an ensemble cast, with Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Jason Statham starring prominently. 

The Expendable franchise has comic book deals, T.V. shows, 3-Video game series, and a Bollywood remake deal in the works, making it a diverse successful franchise.
