Amit Shah Issues Orders To Airlift Paramilitary Doctors And Health Workers To COVID-Ridden Delhi
Close to 250 para medics and 55 doctors are going to join the Delhi medical staff as the capital fights its worst-ever surge in COVID19 cases
Union Home Minister Amit Shah issued orders yesterday to arrange for paramilitary doctors to be flown to Delhi to control the Coronavirus situation in the national capital. The decision came after Shah and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had a review meeting for the health crisis yesterday. 75 doctors and 250 para medics will be airlifted to the region immediately.
Around 10 doctors and 55 medical workers from the Shasastra Seema Bal (SSB) will head to the capital to join the hospitals treating Corona patients. Other forces like the Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF), the Assam Rifles and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have also been asked to send doctors and medical staff to reduce the pressure on the hospitals there.
Delhi has become the worst affected COVID19 hotspot in the world in the last week, after it reported a huge surge in the number of infections. Medical facilities are overflowing with new cases and insufficient health workers.
The union territory is inching close to the five lakh cases mark, with more than 7,700 deaths from the virus till now.
