Amazon Employees Protest Against Jeff Bezos Over Reduced Benefits
Protestors have regularly been gathering outside Bezos’ New York apartment.
Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon and the world’s richest man, is facing the ire of his own employees who are protesting against his decision to reduce their benefits during the COVID-19 pandemic. Protestors are gathering in groups in the affluent New York City neighbourhood where Bezos comes to live occasionally. And this is not an isolated affair either; Amazon employees from different parts of the world have criticized the owner for his questionable business practices.
Protesting Amazon employees allege that little has been done to keep them safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. With people being forced to stay at home, the demand for home deliveries shot up and with that the stress levels of Amazon workers. Even as the world’s richest man grew richer, the company ended wage increases and double overtime pay this June. Health benefits have also been cut, while warehouse workers who used to get the hard pay of two dollars per hour have been cut out from the pay.
