Bhupinder Singh Maan, nominated as one of the four experts by the Supreme Court to resolve the farmers’ issues on the centre-imposed agricultural bills withdrew his name from the panel on Thursday. While speaking to a media person, the veteran farmers’ messiah disclosed that he personally spoke to Chief Justice of India (CII), Sharad Bobde to thank the judges’ bench for including his name in the board but subsequently requested for his exclusion in the same call. The former Rajya Sabha member refused to comment on the reason for the lack of trust of the agitating community on the SC constituted team. However, sources reveal that the farm union leaders feel that the members suggested by the apex judiciary body are largely pro-farm laws and will not favour the campaigners eventually.
Meanwhile, representatives of around 40 unions will meet the federal government represented by Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal and Punjab MP Som Parkash in the Vigyan Bhawan today to engage in further talks on the way forward.
