After Akshay Kumar Extends Support To The Transgender Community, #AbHamariBaariHai Trends On Social Media

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has garnered attention after extending support to the transgender community in a new song from the film Laxmii. The makers released the soulful track ‘Ab Hamari Baari Hai’ from the  movie on November 6, 2020. The video is in greyscale mode and shows leading stars Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani alongside transgender rights activist Laxmi Narayan Tripathi breaking gender stereotypes. After Akshay’s post, different social media platforms started brimming with the content with the hashtag ‘Ab Hamari Baari Hai’. Numerous influencers and the general public on Instagram and Twitter have stepped up for the support, love and respect for the transgender community. Encouraging others, they have posted monochrome pictures of themselves with a red Bindi or Tikka through their official handles. The track, which released on Friday, also features Kiara Advani and transgender rights activist Laxmi Narayan Tripathi. The song talks about supporting the community. Moreover, the description of the music video on YouTube reads, “Pyaar pe sabka haq hai, ye dikhane ki #AbHamariBaariHai. Let’s break the gender stereotype and extend our support to the third gender community with a Laal Bindi that stands for equal love and respect”.

The trend started after Akshay Kumar started a campaign to encourage love and respect towards the transgender community. The actor shared a selfie promoting the new filter on Instagram for others to use and show their support. In the caption accompanying the post, he wrote, “Maine toh laga li hai pyaar aur samanta ki Laal Bindi. Now it’s your turn to join me using ‘Ab Hamari Baari Hai’ filter on Instagram as a symbol of love and acceptance for the third gender!”. Check out his photo:
