Urmila Matondkar to join Shiv Sena in December
According to the reports of PTI, a source from Shiv Sena informed them that Urmila Matondkar will soon be joining Shiv Sena on December 1. She had contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as a Congress candidate and quit the party later. On November 29, in the presence of Uddhav Thackerey, Harshal Pradhan, a close aide of Maharashtra Chief Minister said that she will be joining very soon. The name of Urmila Matondkar and other 11 candidates have been sent to the governor BS Koshyari for the nomination of the Legislative Council from the governor’s quota.
When Urmila Matondkar had previously contested through Congress, she had raised many eyebrows with her campaign. However, she proved to be unsuccessful in the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Mumbai North constituency as a Congress candidate. She stood against MLA Gopal Shetty who already had a good hold on Mumbai’s politics. She lost the elections by a huge margin against him. But she quit the party after she started feeling that the political party had its own in-house politics which she was annoyed by.
