Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif in an interview spoke very candidly about girls’ education in India and what it takes to change people’s mindsets about it. In a press conference of a charitable institution, Katrina spoke about the difficulties one may face while trying to increase awareness about the importance of education and she also spoke about the importance of knowledge.

Katrina said that many people slam their doors on people’s faces who are trying to change the mindset of society. She said that although the scenario might have improved in the metro cities but in rural India, there are many people who do not see girls and boys as equal. Katrina spoke about the functioning of the charitable organisation and said that they reach out to people in the villages and small cities who are most educated and asking them to reach out to the locals and talk to them about educating their daughters. She said that they were not enforcing their opinion but making them understand the importance of education.
Talking about the significance of knowledge, the actress said that knowledge is power and when a person has the knowledge they have self-confidence and are empowered to decide what they want to do in life. Giving an example of a girl who is associated with charity and wants to be a teacher, Katrina said that because of the education she received she is empowered to think about what she wants in life. The actress also said that according to her education is the first thing that should be addressed by everyone in the country.
