2. Shama Deshpande as the protagonist

Actress Shama Deshpande is a seasoned star who debuted with Jodidaar. Blockbuster movies like Kaho Na Pyaar hai (2000), Krishna Cottage (2004) include some of her notable works. Shama also featured in the super hit TV show Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon starring Drashti Dhami and Vivian Dsena.

With her at the center of the story, D.A.T.E. seems like one entertaining watch! The makers revealed that she was always the first choice for the role.

3. Sai Deodhar Anand as the director

Sai Deodhar forayed in the industry as a child artist in Marathi film Lapandav. She has acted in several TV shows and is a sought after name in the small screen world. Bored with the roles she was being offered and content on TV, the actress decided to start her own production house with husband Shakti Anand and mother Shrabani Deodhar.

D.A.T.E. has been produced under Sai’s banner Purple Morning Movies and also written and directed by her.

4. Shakti and Sai's earlier production The Sholay Girl was a huge hit

Shakti Anand’s earlier production, ZEE5 original film The Sholay Girl, may not have starred him but D.A.T.E features him in an important role. The success enjoyed by the drama based on India’s first stuntwoman Reshma Pathan is enough to pin our hopes and pique our interest in the upcoming production from Sai and Shakti’s camp.

Besides, under the direction of his director, co-producer wife, we are assured Shakti will revisit his acting brilliance in this short film.

5. D.A.T.E. has won and been nominated for 72 awards

D.A.T.E. has won and been officially selected for more than 72 awards internationally and nationally. That kind of recognition surely speaks volumes of the content that Sai and husband Shakti have produced!
