4.5 Magnitude Earthquake Rocks Rajkot, No Casualty Reported
The epicentre of the quake was 22 kilometres from Rajkot.Rajkot Collector Ramya Mohan said that there are not reports of any casualty or damage to property.
An earthquake of 4.5 – magnitude hit Gujarat’s Rajkot today, alarming people in the city. The epicentre of this quake was found to be just 22 kilometres from Rajkot due to which its jolts were felt strongly in the city. The city has also witnessed massive rainfall over the past few days which has led to flooding in several areas. In such a time, the earthquake could have dealt a heavy blow had it not been a weak one. Rajkot Collector Ramya Mohan said that there are not reports of any casualty or damage to property.
“Earthquake of 4.8 – magnitude hit near Rajkot city at 7.40 a.m. As per reports that we have collected from the city as well as rural areas, it left no impact. There are no damages due to the quake,” she said. Following the quake, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani held telephonic discussions with the collectors of Rajkot, Surendranagar and Amreli districts. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) has confirmed the earthquake striking Rajkot in Gujarat.
