Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is a romantic comedy-drama film which strikes a perfect balance between comedy and reality.

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is a romantic comedy-drama film which is beautifully directed by R.S. Prasanna and produced by Aanand L. Rai. The movie is a remake of the Tamil film Kalyana Samayal Saadham which was released in 2013. The storyline of this comedy genre movie revolves around Mudit Sharma (Ayushmann Khurrana) who falls in love with Sugandha (Bhumi Pednekar) and plans to get married. But the biggest twist that comes between their budding romance is when the groom gets to know that he is suffering from erectile dysfunction. Have you ever thought how is it that Ayushmann Khurrana always manages to hit the right chord among audiences while dealing with highly sensitive matters which is otherwise taken as an offence? Shubh Mangal Saavdhan was released on 1 September 2017 and has received several awards. The movie received worldwide appreciation and the makers launched a spin-off Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan.

Well, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is a refreshing take on erectile dysfunction and has managed to entertain audiences while staying within limits. Instead of pointing at the issue or sensationalising the problems faced by males, the makers have treated it with much ease and even made the audiences comfortable. The movie has several rib-tickling moments that grab your interest to its fullest. Right from Sugandha’s mother teaching her grown-up daughter about sex and calling it ‘Ali Baba ki gufa’, to Mudit getting nervous for his first kiss after eating onions describes the real struggle of lovers.

Ayushmann and Bhumi ace their characters perfectly and look adorable together. The talented actors once again re-create their magic on the big screen. The entire cast of the movie has won hearts with their brilliant performances. Several reasons make this comedy-drama film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan a special watch for everyone and it even teaches important lessons in life which have otherwise become a taboo in Indian society. Seema Pahwa and Neeraj Sood who essay the role of Bhumi’s on-screen parents convince us with their roles. Many Indian parents would relate with them and agree to their ideologies. The movie presents a fresh take on love, sex and other topics which are not discussed in an Indian family. We must say the director’s ability to strike a perfect balance between comedy and reality has worked in his favour.
