With the Coronavirus pandemic showing no signs of waning, children are being educated through online classes all over the world. However, if a new report is to be believed, about 9.7 million kids globally will never be able to return to school after the COVID-19 crisis ends. The main reasons for this will be the impending economic fallout that will require children to start working early or girls to get forced into early marriages to support their families.

The Save The Children charity in the UK warned on Monday that an ‘unprecedented education emergency’ awaits the world at the end of the pandemic. It has cited UNESCO data showing that 1.6 billion young people were shut out of schools and universities in the month of April, due to lockdowns resulting from the Coronavirus problem. That’s about 90 percent of the world’s entire student population. The report has also stated that an additional 90 to 117 million children could be forced into poverty.
