10 Killed, Many Feared Trapped As Building Collapses In Maharashtra’s Bhiwandi
As per Thane Municipal Corporation PRO, locals and officials have rescued 25 people from the rubble but around 20-25 are still feared trapped.
At least 10 people died and many are feared trapped after a three-storeyed building collapsed in Bhiwandi, in Maharashtra, said Thane Municipal Corporation PRO on Monday morning (September 21). As per initial information, locals said officials have rescued 25 people from the rubble. Around 20 to 25 are still feared trapped and rescue work is underway, said National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) officials. The incident took place at 3 AM on Monday and the death toll from the collapse of the multi-storeyed building in Maharashtra’s Bhiwandi rose to 10.
The number of killed people include seven children and three others. A four-year-old boy was pulled alive by the NDRF that is carrying out rescue operations. According to a report by PTI, many are still feared trapped under the debris although as per initial information, 25 people have been rescued by locals after the building collapsed in the Patel compound area of the city. The injured have been rushed to the hospital for treatment. The 43-year-old Jhilani building collapsed at around 3:40 a.m. It had 40 flats and housed around 150 people.
