During the past few months, there have been several instances of wild animals venturing in human territory. Recently one such incident happened in Karnataka’s medical college. A leopard came inside the medical college in Karnataka and wandered around in the corridor. A CCTV footage of the same has been going viral on social media. For all the people who are wondering about the leopard inside the college campus, here is everything you need to know about it.

The viral video is a CCTV footage from the residential area of the medical college. In the video, the leopard is seen pacing along the corridor and going down the stairs. It reappears within seconds and looks into a room. The leopard then backtracks and goes out of sight from the same way it had come in. According to reports, the leopard strayed inside the hostel campus of the college, Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences. It is located just 7 km away from the Chamarajanagar town. The surveillance camera footage that is going viral now was shared on social media by Indian Forest Service officer Parveen Kaswan. He first identified the wild animal as a black panther because of its dark complexion. However, he later clarified that it is a common leopard with a dark complexion. His tweet read as, “A common leopard. With little dark complexion, it seems. Black panthers are also normal leopard only. Though melanistic. This could be non-melanistic also. In night.”

Till now the video has been viewed by more than 24 thousand users on Twitter and has been liked by 1500 people. A lot of users expressed their views about the video in the thread of the tweet. Several users recalled their hostel memories of sighting such animals while some shared that it is sad to see such wild animals venturing into human residential areas.
