The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is planning a major crackdown on Khalistani outfits and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) that support the separatist movement. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has drawn a list of the various groups masked as charity businesses and of foreign sympathisers of the rebellion. Basis information received from the Punjab police and intelligence agencies, a close watch will be kept on the actions of pro-Khalistan unions like Sikhs for Justice probe (SFJ), Babbar Khalsa International and Khalistan Zindabad Force.

A high-level meeting was held with senior officials from the NIA, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and the Income Tax Department on 12 December in the MHA to discuss the increasing menace of the terror outfits. The ongoing farmer protests being used as a bait by these extremist elements was also reportedly discussed in detail.

Further, with Indian intelligence hinting at their Pakistani counterpart’s role in aiding such militants, action against the perpetrators will be as severe as those running similar rebellions in Kashmir.

In the coming days, foreign financial aid given to Khalistani groups from United States, United Kingdom, Australia and Germany will be probed by the Indian government.
