IPL teams Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad played against each other on 26th April, 2021. Hyderabad lost to Delhi in the super overs during the match. Here are three major reasons why they couldn’t win against the Capitals.

Three reasons why Sunrisers Hyderabad lost to Delhi Capitals

1. Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan’s opening put Sunrisers Hyderabad on a backfoot

Khaleel from Sunrisers Hyderabad opened the bowling for SRH. In the first over itself, Prithvi Shaw managed to score 12 runs with back-to-back boundaries. The over proved to be one of the most expensive ones in the tournament. The duo kept their partnership going for over 10 overs after which Shikhar Dhawan lost his wicket. However, due to their strong partnership, in the beginning, SRH found it difficult to take them down. Dhawan scored 28 runs off 26 balls while Prithvi Shaw managed to bag 53 from just 39 deliveries.

2. Delhi Capitals’ spinners kept the middle overs extremely tight

Delhi Capitals made sure to not let SRH score in the middle overs. In the 8th over, R. Ashwin made sure he let the SRH players score only 2 runs. However, he gave away 27 runs in 4 overs to the team while Axar Patel conceded 26 runs in his stipulated overs.

3. Except for Kane Williamson, no SRH batsman could score a good amount of runs

Delhi Capitals scored 159 runs with 4 wickets and SRH had to chase 160 runs to win the match. Within 4 overs, Warner lost his wicket with a runout when Williamson walked in. It was Williamson who managed to hold his place for a long time and score well. The team had already lost 7 wickets with 159 runs by 20 overs. Kane was the highest scorer in the team with over 66 runs, while Jonny Bairstow made only 38 runs before losing his wicket. The team could have had a chance to win the game if the batsmen gave their best shot while they were on ground.
