Ronit Roy

Actor and Businessman

Whether it is the small or big screen, Ronit Roy is an actor that broods his way into our hearts. Hailing from a small middle-class family, he's managed to create a successful career with no godfather insight. He's been in this industry for more than three decades, and he's still as hungry, restless for good parts. We love the handsome Roy and find him highly underappreciated.

The Career-Low After a High

We've all been so used to his TV stardom that many forget he initially started in movies. When he entered the industry, his big dream was to become an actor like Shashi Kapoor. His big break happened with movies like Jaan Tere Naam which ran on a silver jubilee (25 weeks).

It set his dreams for stardom, but fate had something else stored for him. After the big success, he didn't get a single big film offer for months. Ronit started getting insecure and worried about his career, so out of desperation signed 7 movies. All movies failed in the box office miserably, and he was out of the job that lasted for 4 years. Roy calls it an extremely dark period with no money to even pay for the fuel of his cars. He fell into depression and alcoholism. Ronit got a second life as an actor in Television, and the rest, as they say, is history,

Marriage Troubles

Ronit's struggles have not been limited to professional life but also personal life as well. His first marriage got annulled in court, and he's been separated from his daughter. It is a pain that Ronit carries with him everywhere he goes and is one of his deep regrets. When it came to the second marriage, he knew that Roy knew that he wanted to avoid all the mistakes of the first marriage. Ronit has worked extremely hard to make the relationship work, and they live blissfully together.

One of the Biggest TV Star

The Ronit Roy phenomenon was formed when the 2000s soap serial explosion happened. He was one of the highest-paid actors on Television and earned 1.25 lac rupees per day for Adaalat. As Ronit describes, living life in complete luxury as a bucketload of Tv money rolled in every month. However, after working for more than 15 years in Television, he called it quits.

His friends called his decision foolish walking away from such a lucrative deal. Roy, however, felt it was time as he felt like the actor in him had started to die. He wanted to learn more about the craft of acting and grow as an actor. Working for 1/3 the pay required courage which Ronit had in him to make that change. When asked if he would ever like to come back to Tv? He replied that if the content and stories change that Roy would find himself drawn back.

He Redefined Himself With Udaan

The Tag of a TV actor can be quite limiting and hard to shake off for many, and Ronit was no different. Fans showered him with love, but the film industry didn't appreciate his talent. It changed with the movie Udaan where he plays a stern abusive father of two young boys. Roy's performance was widely acclaimed for his ability to be an intimidating and vulnerable portrayal of an antagonist. Since then, he's had a thriving film, OTT career and continues to impress everyone.

Supported 100 Families During Lockdown

Ronit Roy owns and operates a security firm called ACE security and protection. They've been providing services to the top Bollywood actors and high-ranking officials of this country. During the pandemic, however, everything got shut down, and they struggled to get any work. Roy thought of shutting down the agency to cut his losses. However, he realized that the staff had been struggling and their families were in serious financial need. He decided to keep more than 100 employees on his payroll out of his pocket.

Ronit Roy is one of the most underrated actors in the industry. He is far too often stereotyped into certain types of roles, and we would like him in all kinds of roles; his brother Rohit Roy says he's a charmer, and that side of him has not been explored. A romantic movie with Roy would be an interesting experiment. Whatever and medium he's acting in, we can't wait to see more of Ronit.
