Rajasthan Police recently witnessed agitating crowd involved in severe stone-pelting in Dungarpur district. Sources claim that the furious crowd was protesting against 1167 posts that were posted in the year 2018 for the general category in teacher’s recruitment process. Protestors state that general category candidates were being recruited in tribal areas, which is unfair towards the Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates. Therefore, they want candidates from the ST category to be posted in those regions instead of people from the general category. The protestors torched several vehicles on NH-08 highway leading to massive traffic jam.

CM Ashok Gehlot immediately conducted a meeting to discuss and analyse the Dungarpur protest. However, the final decision regarding the ongoing protest is still underway. The police force lathi-charged to bring the situation under control but the protests continued to intensify.
