Black Widow lawsuit stalls Russo brothers returning to MarvelHollywood
Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, popularly known as Russo Brothers, were involved in talks to make a mystery movie with Marvel.
The bitter lawsuit embroiling Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson and Disney has resulted in fallout in Marvel Studios. The talks between the Russo brothers and Marvel to make a mystery movie are now stalled following Scarlett Johansson’s lawsuit.
The brothers, Anthony Russo and Joe Russo have directed four successful movies under Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movies, Captain America: Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, are all-time favorite under Marvel.
Talks over the mystery movie
A report from Wall Street Journal revealed that the siblings were in talks with the studio to make another movie. Though unknown, the previous interviews of the brothers hinted that it could be revolving around the character Wolverine in X-Men series.
There are also speculations that the mystery movie could be on the superhero event Secret Wars. The report further mentioned that the talks stalled with brothers expressing their concern about the film release model and their pay.
What is the lawsuit about?
Scarlett Johansson and Disney are engaged in a bitter legal suit after the release of Disney’s Black Widow’s in the US and other markets on July 9. Scarlett’s legal team challenged that Disney’s move to release the film in theaters and its simultaneous streaming put the actress at a financial disadvantage.
The suit filed before the Los Angeles Superior Court on July 29 contends that it involved a guarantee that Black Widow will be released exclusively in theaters. Scarlett also contended that box-office returns of Black Widow will determine her salary. However, Disney stated that the actor’s base salary for Black Widow was $20 million and argued that her lawsuit in a time global pandemic had no merit.
Scarlett starred in all the four Marvel movies of the Russo brothers. The siblings have their hands full already. They recently released Tom Holland’s crime drama, Cherry. They have also wrapped the Netflix spy film ‘The Gray Man’ starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans. Russo brothers also into producing a remake of ‘the Thomas Crown Affair’.
