Kayne Omari West goes short and sweet to YEHollywood
Kayne Omari West, the 44-year-old Rapper had moved a court in Los Angeles to change his name. The judge granted him this request as there were no objections.
It is official. Kanye West is now Ye. But for the fans of this most critically acclaimed and sometimes controversial American rapper – A Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose as Gertrude Stein noted as part of a 1913 poem ‘Sacred Emily’. If one wants to add a touch of Shakespeare to this name change that was in the works since August 24 – a Rose by any other name would smell as sweet.
This name change brought forth mixed reactions with some critics asking ‘So What?!!’ Also, a leading producer and fashion designer, Ye born on June 8, 1977, in Atlanta was named Kayne Omari West. The singer moved the authorities concerned in Los Angeles with a name change application and cited personal reasons for doing so.

The singer in various interviews also gave a Biblical touch to his request for the name change in noting that the word ‘Ye’ is one word that appears multiple times in the Bible. Judge Michelle Williams Court in the court documents that Kayne West’s request to change his name to just Ye with no middle or last name has been upheld as there was no objection to the same.
The rapper had dropped broad hints with a tweet in 2018 in stating – the being formally known as Kayne West. I am Ye, which incidentally also is the title of an album he brought out in 2018.
On the family front, the rapper is in the midst of a divorce with American media personality, socialite Kim Kardashian West. This model, actress, and businesswoman however has not moved the authorities to change her name back to Kardashian when she filed the divorce papers in February. The four children of the couple also share the rapper’s last name – West.
Ye who officially joined the billionaire boys club is valued at $6.6 billion. Most of his earnings come from his apparel business. He also has a major investment in Skims shapewear line that his wife Kim Kardashian owns. The expanded partnership with German sports apparel company Adidas is estimated to be around $3.2 billion to $4.7 billion.
