Indian levelled the four-match series against Australia by levelling the score as 1-1 post emerging in flying colour during the second Test match in Melbourne.

The Indian cricket squad has now steadied the four-match series by levelling the score as 1-1 post emerging in flying colour during the second Test match in Melbourne against Australia. The team won by 8 wickets, after losing wickets at the initial stage of the match. Cheteshwar Pujara and Mayank Agarwal could only collect 3 and 5 runs respectively before they were dismissed and sent back to the pavilion. However, Shubman Gill and the stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane kept their composure and led the team to victory.

Indian team chased down a 70-run total to emerge victorious in the Boxing Day Test on the Day 4. The credit of the victory was given to the prolific bowlers of the squad. While Mohammad Siraj picked two, Ashwin and Bumrah got one wicket each. When the match was slipping away, Bumrah dismissed Pat Cummins and boke the partnership between him and Cameron Green. Youngster Shubman Gill received praised for his class batting skills as he remained unbeaten in the game to garner the much-needed victory.

Test debutant Mohammed Siraj was the star bowler for India in the second Test, registering a total of five dismissals. Now as the Indian squad has levelled the score, the third test match will begin from January 7, 2021. Currently, it is scheduled to be held in the Sydney Cricket Ground, however, the venue may change due to the outbreak of the pandemic.

“Really proud of all the players. Played really well. Want to give credit to the debutants Siraj and Gill, the character they showed after the Adelaide loss was great to see. Shubman, we all know his First-class career and in this game, he has shown the intent to play shots at this level. Has shown composure. Siraj has shown that he can bowl with discipline. It’s really difficult for debutants to bowl with discipline but that’s where I think the First-class experience comes in handy,” Rahane said after the match.
