Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif released in the theatres on November 5 and literally had a bang on performance at the box-office. Soon after that Bunty Aur Babli 2 starring Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji, Sidhant Chaturvedi and newbie Sharvari Wagh got released in theatres. But unfortunately, the film didn’t grab many audiences. As a result, its box-office collection didn’t get a boost even days after its release.
According to the reports of a leading daily, Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji starrer managed to earn Rs 8.30 crore towards the end of Week 1. On the other hand, Rohit Shetty’s film has been reduced to lakhs. Sooryavanshi has earned about 72 lakhs on the 22nd day. The reason is the release of John Abraham starrer Satyameva Jayate 2 and Antim: The Final Truth. Right then, the audience has got various options to choose one among many.
After the release of last and Satyamev Jayate 2, the screen count of Sooryavanshi has come down and now almost all the major cities of the film are running very few shows due to which its earnings are badly affected. On the fourth Friday i.e., on the 22nd day, Sooryavanshi recorded overall occupancy of 15 percent which is higher than Salman Khan’s last and John Abraham’s Satyamev Jayate 2. While the last recorded occupancy of 12 per cent on Friday, John Abraham’s Satyamev Jayate 2 recorded occupancy of only 8 per cent.
According to the reports of a leading daily, Satyameva Jayate 2, which did not start well, saw a huge decline on day 2. This decline was expected as Salman Khan’s Antim: The Final Truth was released the very next day. Satyameva Jayate 2 issued Rs. 1.75-2 crore nett range. The big multiplexes of metros saw huge drops of 50% but pockets like Gujarat, CP Berar and Bihar saw lesser drops ranging from 10% to 30%. Reports say that it might be difficult for the film to get back on the same level as day 1 on Sunday.
Coming towards Sooryavanshi, it is still having a stronghold at the ticket window. The Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer collected well on its fourth Friday as well despite having competition from 2 new releases. The film collected in theRs. 80-85 lakh nett range to take its total over Rs. 185 crore nett. The drop is around 25% from the day before.
