Throwback Thursday: Enjoy A Free Laugh Riot With Baladur Ft. Ravi Teja-Anushka Shetty

If you are familiar with the Telugu language you know being called a baladur isn’t a compliment. But there is one man who wore this word like a jewelled crown. And he is the one and only, the Mass Maharaja, Ravi Teja. In 2008, Ravi Teja enjoyed the career-high that has been only going higher since then. His Telugu film Baladur has come to be a film that can crack us up even in the hardest times, with ease. Even over a decade later, this Telugu movie on ZEE5 remains enjoyable.

Baladur, loosely translating to notorious, is a 2008 film directed by KR Udayshankar. It features Ravi Teja in the lead role and Anushka Shetty plays his love interest. Along with loads of comedy, the film is also an action-drama piece. It is shot by B. Balamurugan and edited by Marthand Venkatesh. Popular music director KM Radha Krishnan, of Chandamama fame, composed the music for this film.

Noted actors like Krishna, Chandra Mohan, Sunil, Brahmanandam, Pradeep Rawal, Subbaraju, Satyam Rajesh, LB Sriram also feature in important roles. The story revolves around a boy named Chanti, who belongs to a wealthy and respected joint-family. He loves his uncle (Pedananna) more than his own father. Chanti seeks his love and validation, whilst he takes his father for granted and dismisses his opinions.

The conflict in the film begins when Chanti tries to save his family from an external threat. He tries to keep them away from the ambush by silently breaking bones because his family would have never resorted to a fight over a dialogue. During one such fight, Chanti’s uncle sees him and asks him to leave the house. Chanti decides to do it since that was the easiest way to keep them safe. But as he struggles to end the rivalry, Chanti also yearns for his family.
