Congress leader Rahul Gandhi paid homage to the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi at Shakti Sthal in Delhi on November 19, 2020, Thursday. He paid floral tributes to his beloved grandmother at her memorial on the occasion of her 103rd birth anniversary. Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to his grandmother and the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi at her memorial in the national capital. He also took to Twitter and shared a picture of her through his official handle on November 19. The Congress leader remembered her as an efficient Prime Minister. He also called her Shakti Swaroop or the form of power. Watch video:

He penned in the Devanagari script, “एक कार्यकुशल प्रधानमंत्री और शक्ति स्वरूप श्रीमती इंदिरा गांधी जी की जयंती पर श्रद्धांजलि। पूरा देश उनके प्रभावशाली नेतृत्व की आज भी मिसाल देता है लेकिन मैं उन्हें हमेशा अपनी प्यारी दादी के रूप में याद करता हूँ। उनकी सिखायी हुई बातें मुझे निरंतर प्रेरित करती हैं।“ It roughly translates to, “ I pay my tribute on the birth anniversary of Smt. Indira Gandhi Ji, an able and powerful Prime Minister. While the entire nation hails her impressive leadership, I always remember her as my beloved grandmother. Her teachings inspire me every day”. 

Besides Rahul Gandhi, the official page of Congress remembered the former Prime Minister of India with a memorable post. The caption accompanying her photo read, “A trailblazer, a visionary, a true leader and a great daughter of our motherland, Smt. Indira Gandhi was much more than a Prime Minister to our citizens; she was the revitalising strength in their quest for greatness and prosperity. Today, we pay a proud tribute to India’s Indira.”

The late Indira Gandhi was the first and only woman Prime Minister of India. Born on November 19, 1917, in Allahabad, she was the daughter Jawaharlal Nehru, who was the country’s first Prime Minister.
