The central government and the West Bengal government are at loggerheads once again after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda visited the state on a one-day tour. While addressing his party workers in Siliguri, Nadda said that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) will be implemented soon, citing that the delay till now has been due to COVID19. He said that there were some rules in the law that were underway, though the act has already been passed.

The BJP head further blamed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her administration for using a divisive approach towards the people of Bengal and stopping the centre’s benefits from reaching the state’s people.

The CM also lashed out at the BJP and said that they’ve landed the country in a sad plight, while assuring her followers that she won’t let the controversial CAA be imposed in her home state as long as she is in power.

Though the West Bengal elections are scheduled for next year, the Narendra Modi government is leaving no stone unturned in preparing for the polls from now itself.
