Dilip Ghosh Sends Legal Notice To TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee Over Latter’s Inappropriate Comments
CM Mamata Banerjee’s nephew has been slapped with a legal notice by BJP’s Dilip Ghosh after the former called the state party president a mafia and goonda at a rally on Sunday
Tensions between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Trinamool Congress (TMC) are intensifying in West Bengal ahead of the legislative polls in 2020. After TMC minister Abhishek Banerjee called Bengal’s BJP President Dilip Ghosh a goonda and mafia, the latter slapped the former with a legal notice, asking him to apologise unconditionally and withdraw his scathing comment.
During his rally in his own constituency in Diamond Harbour on Sunday, Banerjee had openly targeted several BJP leaders in addition to Ghosh. While he referred to Union Home Minister Amit Shah as an outsider, he also called BJP National Secretary Kailash Vijayvargia’s son Aakash a goon. He declared that he is intentionally taking names and challenged the opposition to fight him legally.
The state’s BJP supremo reacted to the speech and said that the matter must be dealt legally, as such negative comments on a public platform are uncalled for. He added that the TMC’s second in command using foul language against the state president of an opposition party is inappropriate. Ghosh compared the TMC with the former Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) government citing that the outfit saw its downfall largely because of its trademark poor language.
