Indian cricket team coach Ravi Shastri recently spoke about the team’s phenomenal Border-Gavaskar trophy win, which left the entire cricket world stunned. The team won this series 2-1 at the Brisbane Cricket Ground aka the Gabba, where the Australian cricket team has managed to remain undefeated since the last 32 years. Young passionate players like Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin, Washington Sundar and Cheteshwar Pujara, were highly appreciated by various cricket champions from different parts of the world. Coach Ravi Shastri also spoke highly of the players and also specially mentioned captain Ajinkya Rahane, whose wise, composed and calm captaincy helped the team to a great extent.
Here is a look at the ZEE5 video about coach Ravi Shastri’s take on the India Vs Australia Test series:
Coach Ravi Shastri recently spoke about India’s win against Australia while complimenting Ajinkya’s work as a captain. He said, “I mean we were left with no choices. You know, we had no one left in the squad when the final test started. We had to play with the guys who were there. I mean if you look at the bowling attack when India beat Australia, the last time, there isn’t a single bowler in that last game. So it was important you know, to keep the self-belief going and I think Ajinkya did a great job by being calm, composed, and taking everything in his stride. It is not easy as a captain, to go out with a bowling attack that is just three test-matches old. You know, it is no joke. But then to marshal the resources and keep everyone going, I thought was an outstanding achievement.”
Ravi Shastri also stated that the undefeated spirit is the winning factor in this team. He said, “And it is the self-belief that this team has. And you know, people think it has come overnight. It doesn’t come overnight. It is a process that has taken five-six years. These boys have been playing with each other for five-six years. You know, they have had tough tours, they have had losses. But what they have learnt now is never to give up. Feeling defeated in one thing but giving up is not in our vocabulary and that this team has shown, more than anything else. And you must give credit to Virat, he is back home in India but his character, his personality, that stamp is there for everyone to see it in this team as well. Therefore, Ajinkya to take over the way he did, was simply unreal.”
