IPL 2022: What Will Be The Base Prize Of The New IPL Teams?
The IPL is scheduled to have only 8 teams in 2021 but there will be 10 teams in 2022. There are a few base reports that have come out, claiming the prize of the new teams of IPL.
The IPL 2020 was pushed ahead to the month of October due to the Pandemic. According to BCCI, for IPL 2022, there will be 10 teams competing with each other as against 8 teams for 2021. This is expected to be one of the biggest cricket tournaments in the world. BCCI was planning this for IPL 2021 itself, but the lack of time has been cited as the reason BCCI pushed it to 2022. However, the names of the two teams are yet to be announced. Reports claim that teams from Ahmedabad, Kanpur, Pune, Lucknow, Indore and Kochi might join the IPL 2022.

The tenders for IPL 2022 will be released by April 2021. An official from BCCI has also said that the base price of the new IPL teams will be nothing less than 1500 crores, adding that the ownership of an IPL team is a ‘prized asset’. “Nothing has been officially discussed about the base price as yet. But during BCCI AGM we discussed the matter informally. Ownership of IPL team is now a very prized asset and we feel the base price for the new IPL team will be nothing less than 1500 Cr or probably more,” the official said as quoted by Inside Sport.
According to reports, IPL 2021 will be commencing from April 11, 2021, and will go on till June 6, 2021. The first match is expected to be between Mumbai Indian and Delhi Daredevils. The auction for this season’s IPL teams is yet to be announced. The IPL 2020 was held in UAE, in empty stadiums with safety protocols being followed. The IPL 2020 matches were interesting to watch. MS Dhoni’s team Chennai Superkings were criticised for their performance while Mumbai Indians won this season becoming five-time winners to hold the title.
