Indian Cricket Team Tests Negative For COVID-19, Set To Leave For Sydney For The Next Test Match

Indian players have wrapped up what was one of the toughest weekends for them in Australia on their ongoing tour by testing negative for the coronavirus.

All the members of the Indian cricket team including the players and the support staff have tested negative for the novel coronavirus as per the reports. As all the members have tested negative for the virus, the Indian cricket team can participate in the next test match in Sydney with full strength. Reportedly, a few allegations were made against five players of the Indian Cricket team for not following the COVID-19 protocol but they were proven to be false after the entire team tested negative for the virus. Sports Journalist Boria Majumdar said that the Indian team has already left for Sydney for their upcoming matches.

He also mentioned that all the players were travelling together and that they had a ‘basic gym session’ before flying where norms of social distancing were strictly followed. “I have spoken to the Indian Cricket team management and they have clarified that there has been no breach in the COVID-19 protocol,” he said.

He further mentioned that Indian Cricket team management believes that Australian media is ‘trying to upset the rhythm’ (of the Indian cricket team) ahead of the test series. He further added that Queensland’s Health Shadow Minister Ros Bates’ ‘don’t come’ statement was a little ‘out of line’ as BCCI or the Indian Cricket fraternity has never denied following the rules. “Political figures should act responsibly, maybe that was not followed in this case,” he said.

Indian players have wrapped up what was one of the toughest weekends for them in Australia on this tour by testing negative for the coronavirus amidst the unwanted media scrutiny after five Indian players (Rohit Sharma, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill and Navdeep Saini) allegedly went to a restaurant in Melbourne and were faced with allegations of not following necessary protocols.
