Krunal Panday played his first ODI against England on 23 March. The cricketer gave his best as he scored fifty runs in just 26 balls. Everybody applauded Krunal while he got emotional on the field remembering his father. He raised his bat towards the sky with tears in his eyes. As the camera focused on Krunal’s brother Hardik, he too had tears in his eyes seeing his brother setting the field on fire.
Krunal Pandya came to bat after Hardik Pandya. The score of team India was 205 for 5 after 40.3 overs. Both Krunal and KL Rahul lifted India to 317 from there. Krunal and KL Rahul had a partnership of 112 runs in 57 runs. Krunal Pandya returned not out with a score of 58 runs in 31 balls. The cricketer scored the fastest half-century in the debut match in the history of cricket. As Krunal came back after his innings, he gave a hug to Hardik Pandya and the duo got emotional remembering their father.
Later, when Hardik Panday presented his brother with his India ODI cap, Krunal said, “This is all dedicated to the old man, his blessings are there with us, and obviously it was very emotional – for you and me, both of us – and again, getting the cap from you, and I guess somewhere down the line, up there, he must be having a good night today, and enjoying the way I batted. So yeah, this is for him.”
Talking about his father, Krunal said that he brought his father’s belongings with him to Pune in the dressing room so that he can feel his presence with him. He mentioned that his father always liked to keep his clothes ready for the next day and so he brought the clothes with him which his father planned to wear on 16 January.
