From 7th January, India and Australia will play against each other for the 3rd test match in Sydney. BCCI announced that Rohit Sharma will be the Vice Captain of the Indian team for the next few test matches. Since Rohit Sharma will be seen playing in the next test match, then the next obvious question is who he is going to replace. Which player will be dropped from the team in the next test match? Read further to know the probable options.
Which player will be replaced by Rohit Sharma in the Sydney test match
Since Rohit Sharma has been declared the Vice Captain of the Indian cricket team, he will also be playing with the team. Now the question that arises is who will Rohit Sharma replace in the next two test matches. If you look at the last matches, Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal were given a chance as opening batsmen. However, the two did not score well in the first match and thus Prithvi Shaw was replaced by Shubman Gill who gave a good score along with Mayank Agarwal.
Mayak Agarwal has not played well in most of the matches in the Australian test matches and ODIs. When we talk about his IPL career, Mayank managed to play well and was thus chosen in the Indian team. In 2020, Mayank Agarwal hasn’t played well in the test matches. Thus there could be a high possibility that Mayak will be replaced in the match.
On the other hand, BCCI declared that in the Sydney Test, the team will have in total 5 bowlers. Ravindra Jadeja who is an all-rounder will also be counted as a bowler and thus the team does not require another bowler. In the second test match as well, Hanuma Vihari hasn’t been seen bowling. As a batsman, Hanuma is extremely average and thus there could be yet another possibility of him being replaced. Hanuma Virahi hasn’t made an impact yet in any of the test matches.
Virat Kohli’s absence will be felt this time as the team does not have very strong batsmen. It is suggested that Rohit Sharma should be playing on the fifth position, unlike other times when he played on 6th. Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma have had a good partnership and thus there could be a chance for India this time.
