Fresh Trouble For Rihanna After She Poses Topless With Ganesha Pendant
The singer posted a photo of hers from a recent photoshoot for her lingerie brand in which she is topless and wearing a pendant of the beloved Hindu god, Ganesha
Pop sensation Rihanna, who has been in the news recently over her tweet supporting the farmers’ movement in India has landed herself in a big controversy amongst Indians, especially Hindus. The singer posted a topless photo of herself wearing a lord Ganesha pendant on her social media.
It did not take time for the post to go viral, leading to a massive furor amidst the worshippers of the revered god. The photo, a promotion for her lingerie brand soon caught the attention of the members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP). The BJP expressed displeasure, questioning how much more would one take advantage of its patience. The saffron party’s leader Ram Kadam tweeted the matter, calling out the singer for having no knowledge of Indian culture or how to respect the beloved god. He also took a jibe at the Congress saying that he hopes that at least now they would stop seeking her help in the country’s internal issues.
Not just politicians, many netizens also condemned the global celebrity’s photoshoot, calling her out for using religion inappropriately and disrespecting the sentiments of the people of India.
This is the second time in less than a fortnight that the Barbadian vocalist has made it to the Indian media. Before this, she had shared a post lending her support to the ongoing agrarian movement, becoming one of the first international celebrities to do so along with Greta Thunberg, Susan Sarandon and Meena Harris.
